Jennifer is owner and founding principal of Mass Ave Public Relations, a woman-owned publicity and public relations company located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The firm promotes honest pricing through a flat-fee menu of services geared toward small businesses and non-profits.
Jennifer started her first strategic communications firm in 2008, but she has long been frustrated by the lack of openness and transparency within the PR business model: Far too many clients receive substandard service from outmoded agencies that only care about five-figure monthly retainers.
Small businesses and non-profits – the entrepreneurial lifeblood of our economy and communities –wind up shut out because they don’t think they can afford quality public outreach or they’ve been nickel-and-dimed in the past.
That’s why Jennifer established Mass Ave Public Relations with its mission to provide great PR and publicity services at an up-front, competitive rate with no hidden fees.
Jennifer got her start more than a decade ago as a city and state government reporter for the Indianapolis Star, her hometown paper. Since then, she has worked as a government affairs consultant, communications director for a state government agency, communications director for a state political party and Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the federal agency within the U.S. Department of Energy that oversees the nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile and the largest nonproliferation program in the world.
In 2012, the Indianapolis Star named her one of the city’s 10 “up-and-coming doers, thinkers, communicators and leaders,” and she writes a monthly column for the Indianapolis Business Journal. She also provides weekly political commentary for WXIN, the Indianapolis FOX television station.
In addition to a Bachelor’s in Journalism from Indiana University in Bloomington, Jennifer holds a J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. She is admitted to practice law in Indiana.
Jennifer and her husband, Gordon, live in Downtown Indianapolis with their two children, a long-haired dachshund and three backyard chickens.
